Samsung Electronics has placed a 9.18 million yuan (approximately $9 million) order with South Korean semiconductor equipment maker DI for aging test equipment dedicated to DDR5 memory production. This procurement, destined for Samsung's Suzhou factory in China, is expected to accelerate DDR5 capacity expansion.

The contract requires DI to receive full payment within December, indicating both the urgency of Samsung's needs and strong mutual trust. The centerpiece of this deal is DI's latest DM1600C aging tester.

While optimized for DDR5 DRAM, the DM1600C offers broad compatibility, efficiently testing LPDDR, GDDR, and SRAM memory chips (though it currently doesn't support HBM). Its two independent test chambers with 24 slots enable massive parallel testing, significantly boosting production efficiency. The equipment operates reliably at extreme temperatures up to 150°C, meeting stringent burn-in testing requirements that ensure final memory product reliability and longevity.

This order further deepens the collaboration between DI and Samsung, bringing DI's total orders from Samsung this year to 3.7 billion won (approximately 37 million yuan).

ICgoodFind: This strategic equipment investment clears a critical bottleneck, positioning Samsung to capitalize on the growing DDR5 market demand.
