ST’s STM32 MCUs Now Made in China at HHGrace

STMicroelectronics has officially announced that its STM32 microcontrollers are now being manufactured in China and are shipping in volume. The first batch of wafers produced by domestic foundry HHGrace has already been delivered to local customers—a major step in the global chipmaker’s push to deepen its China supply chain.

ST plans to expand local production to more STM32 families in 2026, covering high-performance, high-security, and entry-level MCUs. The goal is to improve supply efficiency, reduce lead times, and better serve the local market.

The move builds on a 15-year partnership between ST and HHGrace. HHGrace uses the same 40nm eNVM technology and quality standards as ST’s global fabs, ensuring that locally made chips are identical in design, performance, and quality to those produced overseas.

ST becomes the first semiconductor company to operate a dual-supply chain with unified global quality standards. For STM32, the full local supply chain now spans wafer fabrication, packaging, and testing—handled by ST’s Shenzhen facility and domestic partners.

Local customers now have the flexibility to choose between China-made or overseas-made STM32 MCUs with no quality trade-offs, breaking the constraints of a single-source supply chain.
