SK Hynix has announced the development of the industry's first 16Gb LPDDR6 DRAM built on its sixth-generation 10nm-class (1c) process. This breakthrough memory is tailored for the high-performance, low-power demands of on-device AI applications.

First previewed at CES in January, the new LPDDR6 is now validated and ahead of competitors. SK Hynix plans to complete mass production preparations in the first half of the year, with volume shipments starting in the second half.
Key Performance Gains Over LPDDR5X:
-
33% Faster Speed: Achieves over 10.7 Gbps, surpassing all current mobile DRAM standards through enhanced bandwidth.
-
20% Lower Power: Employs a sub-channel structure to activate only necessary data paths and DVFS (Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling) to dynamically adjust voltage and frequency based on workload.
This technology enables high bandwidth for demanding tasks like gaming while conserving power during everyday use, significantly extending device battery life.
