Mengtian Home Furnishings, a leading Chinese custom furniture company, has announced a plan to acquire control of Shanghai ChipMicro Electronics, a domestic analog chip designer. The company's shares have been halted from trading in connection with the proposed deal.
The move marks a significant strategic pivot for the furniture maker, established in 2003. The acquisition target, ChipMicro, is a specialized "Little Giant" enterprise focused on high-performance analog chips. Its products, which include isolators, interface, and power management ICs, serve over 5,000 clients, including automaker BYD, with annual shipments of auto-grade chips exceeding 10 million units.

If completed, the transaction would transform Mengtian from a pure-play home furnishing business into a diversified company with a foothold in the semiconductor industry.
ICgoodFind : This crossover acquisition represents a novel diversification strategy, potentially boosting the acquirer's growth and expanding the domestic analog chip ecosystem.
