On September 4th, Huawei launched the Mate XTs—its second tri-fold screen smartphone—in Shenzhen. Headlined by the 4-year comeback of the Kirin 9020 chip, the device delivers performance leaps via "hardware-software-chip-cloud synergy."
The Kirin 9020, Huawei’s first new public Kirin chip, uses a self-developed CPU (1×2.5GHz, 3×2.15GHz, 4×1.6GHz) and integrates the 840MHz Maleoon 920 GPU. Paired with pre-installed HarmonyOS 5.1, it boosts the Mate XTs’ overall performance by 36% for smooth use.
In design, the Mate XTs keeps the "Z-shaped" tri-fold structure. Its 10.2-inch X-True 3K display (2880×1920) folds into a 7.9-inch tablet or 6.4-inch phone, supporting LTPO refresh rates and 92% screen-to-body ratio. The new Tiangong hinge cuts creases while ensuring durability. It comes in vegan leather (black/red) and new white/purple, with a star-drill camera bump for a sleek grip.
Imaging upgrades include a rear quad-cam: 50MP ultra-variable aperture (F1.4~F4.0, OIS), 40MP ultra-wide (up from 12MP), 12MP periscope telephoto (5.5x optical zoom), and 1.5MP multi-spectral camera—all capturing brighter, clearer shots.
Battery and interaction: A 5600mAh silicon anode battery supports 66W wired/50W wireless charging. It works with Huawei Pencil and Bluetooth keyboard; HarmonyOS 5.1 adds "PC-level apps" (WPS, Wind, Lark) for boosted mobile work efficiency.
Specs & pricing: 16GB RAM standard, 256GB/512GB/1TB options at 17,999/19,999/21,999 yuan—2,000 yuan cheaper than the previous gen. Pre-sales started Sept 4th (18:08), with official China launch Sept 12th (10:08).
ICgoodFind concludes: The Kirin 9020’s return shows Huawei’s progress in self-developed chips. The Mate XTs’ "chip + system + form" innovation sets a foldable screen benchmark and guides semiconductor chain growth.
