Description Kestrel 5500 The Kestrel 5500 pocket weather tracker is a Kestrel environmental instrument and has the function of a miniature weather station. The optional Kestrel 5500 model includes the basic model 0855YEL (914-0003) and the Bluetooth link 0855LVYEL (914-0012). Both models offer unique monitoring features for digital compass, wind direction, crosswind, and headwind/downwind. These features make the 5500 Kestrel instrument suitable for military professionals, HAZMAT teams, and crew members. Both models have bright green backlighting - suitable for uniform, high daylight conditions - night vision can maintain backlighting. The red night vision (NV) backlight includes an optical filter that reduces overall brightness and minimizes blue and green spectral lighting to the greatest extent possible (this night vision is not compatible with night vision devices - fundamentally, using the red backlight at night does not require adjusting the lifting ring when viewing the instrument horizontally).
