Synopsys VDK Accelerates TI TDA5 SoC Software Development for SDV

Texas Instruments has unveiled its TDA5 family of SoCs, delivering scalable AI performance from 10 to 1200 TOPS with industry-leading efficiency of >24 TOPS/W. Designed for ADAS and autonomous driving applications, the series features a chiplet-ready architecture with standard UCIe interfaces, enabling flexible scaling for future requirements up to L3 autonomy.

To address the complexity of software-defined vehicle (SDV) development, TI and Synopsys have collaborated to create a Virtualizer™ Development Kit (VDK) for the TDA5 SoC. This electronic digital twin enables engineers to start software development months before silicon availability, accelerating time-to-market by up to 12 months.

The VDK provides a complete virtual prototype encompassing all subsystems—application processing, real-time processing, multimedia, display, connectivity, analytics, and security. Deep integration with TI's SDK offers a unified development foundation, while comprehensive observability and control enable non-intrusive debugging and root cause analysis.

The ecosystem extends beyond tools, with collaborations including Accenture, Banma, and QNX integrating their solutions into the TDA5 virtual prototype. This enables seamless CI/CD integration and cloud scalability for modern SDV workflows.
