Mercedes-Benz has stated it has secured its short-term chip supply amidst the ongoing control dispute over Nexperia. The German automaker confirmed it is closely monitoring the situation.

The issue began in September when the Dutch government, citing intellectual property concerns, transferred the shares of Nexperia—a subsidiary of China's Wingtech—to a third-party administrator. Subsequently, China banned the export of finished products from the chipmaker, most of which are packaged in China. This has caused significant concern for European carmakers, as Nexperia is the world's third-largest power discrete device supplier, providing components to automotive suppliers like Bosch and directly to Mercedes-Benz.

The automaker is now working with partners to mitigate supply risks and reallocate resources. However, it described the situation as "highly complex and volatile," making reliable predictions difficult.

ICgoodFind: This event highlights the fragility of the global auto chip supply chain; while short-term supplies are stable, the long-term impact remains uncertain.
