Chinese antitrust authorities have initiated an investigation into Qualcomm for violating the Antimonopoly Law by completing its acquisition of Autotalks without mandatory declaration. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) confirmed that Qualcomm failed to notify the regulator despite earlier instructions to do so in March 2024, when the company initially abandoned the deal. However, Qualcomm proceeded with the acquisition in June 2025 without approval or communication.

Qualcomm has stated it is cooperating fully with the investigation. Autotalks, an Israeli fabless semiconductor firm, specializes in V2X communication chips for connected vehicles. The acquisition aims to integrate its technology into Qualcomm’s platforms, strengthening the latter’s position in smart automotive solutions.
