Micron Halts Quotes Suddenly: Will Memory Chips Surge in Price?

Following SanDisk’s announcement last week of over a 10% price hike for storage products, another major update emerged in the memory sector: Micron today confirmed to channels that its storage products will soon see a 20%-30% price increase. Starting today, it has suspended quotes for all memory product lines—including DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, and LPDDR5—with prices for contract customers also canceled. The quote suspension is expected to last one week.

This price hike covers a wide range: in addition to consumer and industrial storage products, automotive electronics storage products are projected to see an even steeper increase of up to 70%.

According to supply chain sources, Micron’s senior management identified significant supply shortage risks in customers’ FCST (Forecast, demand predictions). As a result, it urgently launched the quote suspension measure, and will readjust product prices later based on market supply and demand conditions.

ICgoodFind:we believe Micron’s price adjustment and quote suspension may intensify short-term supply-demand tensions in the memory market. Downstream enterprises need to plan ahead for inventory and costs.
