Description BM78 The Microchip PICtail/PICtail Plus daughter board is a tool for users to study the BM78 Bluetooth 4.2 (BR/ADR/LE) module. Users can use BM78 to develop software and directly develop the board through USB. The PICtail/PICtail Plus connector enables the board to interface with microcontroller development platforms such as Explorer 16 (DM240001) and Explorer 8 (DM160228). The included BM78 is a Bluetooth 4.2 module that provides dual-mode functionality and can communicate using BR/EDR and BLE protocols. It supports GAP, SDP, SPP, and GATT protocols. The data is transmitted through a transparent UART mode via Bluetooth connection, and the integration task between BM78 and the host MCU can be simplified by using the UART interface of this module. ###Characteristics of Bluetooth ® 4.2 Standard BM78 module, equipped with onboard antenna and 2dBm output power. Transparent serial data connection via Bluetooth Classic Serial Port Application Specification (SPP) and low-power Bluetooth via USB interface for direct programming using Windows based configuration tools. PICtail interface is used to connect to microcontroller development platforms, such as Explorer 16 (DM240001) and Explorer 8 (DM160228) in automatic configuration mode, for quick setting (default) of manual configuration mode.
