Yeary, who joined Intel's board in 2009 and became chairman in 2023, led four CEO transitions and was instrumental in Intel's "reinvention" over the past 18 months, driving execution excellence and strengthening the company's financial foundation. CEO Lip-Bu Tan credited Yeary with championing his appointment and enhancing board governance.

Yeary stated that appointing Tan CEO was Intel's key success, with progress now evident in Intel 18A and 14A roadmaps—making this the right moment to step down.

New Chairman Dr. Craig H. Barratt brings over 30 years of semiconductor leadership, including as CEO of Atheros Communications (acquired by Qualcomm) and senior roles at Google and Intel. He also serves on the boards of Intuitive Surgical and Astera Labs.

Barratt will lead the board in driving strategic execution and expanding U.S. R&D investment.
