At CES 2026, global automotive chip leader NXP Semiconductors unveiled its S32N7 series of highly integrated processors, built on a 5-nanometer technology platform. This breakthrough product integrates powertrain, vehicle dynamics, body electronics, gateway, and security domains into a single chip, accelerating the adoption of Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) architectures.

As NXP’s strategic solution for next-generation vehicle platforms, the S32N7 creates a centralized “Vehicle Core” hub, consolidating software and data resources that were previously distributed across dozens of hardware modules. This integration can simplify vehicle wiring, reduce electronic components, and enhance software efficiency, helping automakers streamline their electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures and potentially lower total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 20%—all while meeting stringent functional safety and cybersecurity standards.

By enabling a centralized intelligent architecture, the S32N7 also serves as a central AI control node for next-generation mobility. Its high computing power and access to core vehicle data support the deployment of diverse intelligent features and accelerate the adoption of software subscription models. A high-performance data backbone ensures upgrade flexibility, allowing automakers to build differentiated user experiences.

Bosch has already partnered with NXP to deploy the S32N7, jointly developing a complete solution and producing ECU samples to help automakers gain an early advantage. Bosch executives noted that this collaboration combines advanced semiconductor technology with deep system expertise, forming a core enabler for SDVs.

According to Robert Moran, NXP’s Vice President of Automotive Processors, the S32N7 redefines mobility by extending innovation from infotainment and ADAS to core vehicle functions. The series offers 32 scalable variants, integrating application processing, real-time computing, and high-performance networking into a single SoC. The flagship S32N79 is already sampling to customers.
