Chinese semiconductor company Sunsing Semiconductor has successfully closed its Series C funding round, raising approximately 269 million yuan (about $37 million). The round was led by strategic investors ShiYun Circuit and Shunke Juxin, with continued participation from existing shareholder HongSheng Capital. This investment will accelerate Sunsing's push into the automotive-grade chip market.

The strategic partnership with ShiYun Circuit, a major PCB supplier for automakers like Tesla and BMW, is a key aspect of the deal. This collaboration provides Sunsing with a "green channel" to access top-tier automakers, significantly shortening the lengthy certification and supply cycles typically required for automotive components.

Sunsing's core strength lies in its filter technology, a segment long dominated by American and Japanese firms. The company holds over 170 authorized invention patents in China and the U.S. It is notable as the first domestic Chinese company to obtain AEC-Q200 certification for its filters. Its product portfolio spans advanced technologies like BAW and TC-SAW filters, with annual shipments exceeding 300 million units for BAW filters.

Beyond automotive, Sunsing has secured design-ins with major smartphone brands including Xiaomi and Samsung. In a significant milestone for localization, 20 of its filter models were included in a reference design for Unisoc's 4G platform—marking the first time a domestic filter was used in such a mainstream mobile platform design.

The company is positioning itself for a "Consumer + Automotive" dual-drive strategy. It aims to leverage economies of scale from the consumer electronics side while pursuing the higher-value automotive segment, where smart driving systems are increasing filter usage per vehicle from 3-5 to 20-30 units.

ICgoodFind's Insight
This funding and strategic partnership exemplify a powerful trend of vertical integration within China's tech supply chain. By combining specialized chip design with established manufacturing channels, companies like Sunsing are poised to capture significant opportunities in the critical automotive electronics market.
