Aug 19 (Beijing Time) - Reuters cited sources that ARM, a chip architecture licensing firm, has hired Amazon’s AI chip chief Rami Sinno to assist in developing its own full-chip plans.
Sinno led Amazon’s development of self-designed AI chips "Trainium" and "Inferentia," used to build and run large-scale AI applications.
ARM is expanding its business, shifting from a key chip IP supplier to a company capable of independently designing complete chips. Its in-house chip plan was disclosed in sealed evidence during a December trial, with the firm poaching executives from rivals for this goal.
In recent years, ARM has strengthened teams focused on full-chip and system building, hiring HPE executives with large-scale system design experience and chip architects from Intel.
