A reporter inquired about claims that Chinese officials urged U.S. experts to ease high-bandwidth memory chip export controls—citing their role in AI development and concerns over hindering firms like Huawei, with the request part of trade agreements.

Lin Jian advised consulting relevant Chinese authorities for details, stressing China firmly opposes politicizing tech and trade, or maliciously suppressing China, as such actions disrupt global supply chains and harm all parties.

Another reporter mentioned that NVIDIA and AMD have agreed to hand over 15% of their chip sales revenue in China to the U.S. government in exchange for export licenses to China. Lin Jian noted that China’s position on U.S. chip exports to China has been stated repeatedly.
