TSMC has officially entered mass production of its 2nm process, marking the arrival of a new generation in mobile semiconductors. Leading the charge, MediaTek has scheduled the release of its first 2nm flagship chip, the Dimensity 9600, for September 22nd. The chip is designed to rival the performance of Apple's upcoming A20 series.

The company completed the tape-out for the Dimensity 9600 last September, with large-scale production set for this year. Compared to the N3E process, TSMC's 2nm technology delivers a 1.2x increase in logic density, an 18% performance gain at the same power, or a 36% power reduction at the same speed.

Following industry patterns, OPPO and vivo are expected to be the first brands to integrate the Dimensity 9600 into their flagship devices, with smartphones likely launching in September to compete directly with the iPhone 18 series.
