ABB Veteran Scientist Joins Peking University's Robotics School

Zhibo Pang, a former Senior Principal Scientist at ABB Group, has returned to China to join Peking University's School of Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics as a tenured professor. This move brings a top expert in industrial chips and robotics back to the domestic academic and research ecosystem.

During his tenure at ABB, a role appointed directly by the Group CTO, Pang led over 20 international projects with a total budget exceeding 10 million euros. He holds 25 U.S. and European patents and authored more than 200 international papers, receiving ABB's "Corporate Inventor of the Year" award three times. He is credited with pioneering the "Cloud-Fog Automation (CFA)" paradigm, with his work deployed in millions of units globally, including ABB's YuMi robot.

At Peking University, his research will focus on cutting-edge areas such as robotic fine manipulation, multimodal embodied intelligence, and physics-informed neural networks.
