The appointment fills a critical role previously held by Martin van den Brink, the driving force behind EUV lithography technology, who retired last year. With over 25 years at ASML, Pieters has led multiple key projects and is recognized for his technical vision and leadership.

ASML’s Supervisory Board plans to formally appoint Pieters to the Management Board during the Annual General Meeting on April 22, 2026, expanding the board from five to six members. The meeting will also reconfirm Roger Dassen as CFO and Frédéric Schneider-Maunoury as COO.

“Technology is at the heart of ASML, and global engineering talent is key to our success,” stated CEO Christophe Fouquet. “Marco’s appointment is a key step in our succession planning, and I will fully support him in advancing our technology roadmap.”

ICgoodFind Summary: This leadership change at ASML will influence the global lithography technology roadmap, with implications for semiconductor manufacturing evolution.
