TSMC has updated its EDA Alliance under the Open Innovation Platform, reducing the number of partners from 16 to 13. The revised list highlights the foundry’s focus on vendors that can keep pace with advanced process verification, such as N3, N2, and A16 nodes.
New additions include Ausdia, Jedat, SkillCAD, and Primarius, while Empyrean and six other previous members were removed. Primarius, a Chinese EDA firm, gained recognition for its modeling and simulation tools, marking a breakthrough for domestic EDA in advanced semiconductor processes. Empyrean’s exit is attributed in part to U.S. trade restrictions.
Leading global EDA providers like Synopsys, Cadence, and Siemens EDA retained their positions, underscoring their indispensable role in cutting-edge chip design. TSMC’s selection process emphasizes technical compatibility and R&D responsiveness, ensuring partners can support evolving requirements in AI acceleration and 3D packaging.
