On September 11th, Smartsens—China’s leading sensor firm—unveiled its new 50MP smartphone CMOS sensor, the SC535XS. Built on the SmartClarity-SL Pro technology platform and using a 28nm+ Stack process, it boasts four core advantages: high dynamic range (HDR), low noise, fast autofocus (AF), and low power consumption. It’s ideal for telephoto and wide-angle cameras in flagship smartphones, boosting mobile imaging upgrades.
In imaging performance, the SC535XS features PixGain HDR technology, delivering a maximum HDR of 80dB. Combined with on-chip dual-frame fusion, it maintains HDR while suppressing motion artifacts—supporting 4K 60P HDR dynamic video recording in this mode, and 4K 120P high-frame-rate video in normal mode to meet high-definition dynamic imaging needs.
The sensor also integrates SFCPixel-SL technology to enhance imaging: its sensitivity reaches 1904mV/lux・s, and read noise is less than 1e-—about 46% lower than industry peers of the same specification, ensuring purer image quality in low light.
For AF experience, the SC535XS offers two modes: AllPix ADAF and Sparse PDAF. In low light, AllPix ADAF uses 100% full-pixel AF for easy night-time fast capture; in normal light, Sparse PDAF uses 6% pixel phase detection to enable fast AF while reducing power consumption, balancing speed and energy efficiency.
Notably, this CMOS supports on-chip pixel binning. When outputting full-size high-resolution images and 12.5MP full-size videos, it reduces the computing load on smartphone SoCs, accelerates post-processing like AI optimization, and adapts to different imaging strategy needs.
ICgoodFind:Smartsens’ SC535XS, with multi-dimensional technological breakthroughs, provides a new option for smartphone imaging upgrades and will drive flagship phones to achieve better image quality in telephoto, wide-angle and other scenarios.
