TO-5 The TO-5 double pole double throw relay from Teledyne, a 712 series RF relay, has become one of the industry standards for switching from low-power circuits to low levels of 1 Amp. Designed for use when the spacing between printed circuit boards needs to be closed, but the 712 series has low coil power consumption in ultra miniature relay packaging. In addition to standard types, there are also 712 * * D * * and 712 * * TN * * relays. 712 * * D * * relays are equipped with internally separated silicon diodes that provide coil transient suppression. The 712 * * TN * * -5 hybrid relay (stock number 758-2449) has an internal silicon diode and transistor driver. By utilizing lower internal contact capacitance and contact circuit losses, the entire 712 series TO-5 relay is an excellent ultra miniature RF switch, suitable for frequencies up to the ultra-high frequency spectrum (see performance curve data table). The typical RF application of TO-5 relay is handheld radio transceiver.
