Introduction: Starting from a trading company that operated copper musical instruments, in the 4th year of Genroku (1691), Sumitomo obtained the operating rights of Biezi Tongshan and continued to produce copper for 283 years, leading to its continuous growth. After experiencing the chaotic period of the Meiji Restoration, Beizi Tongshan saw a significant leap in production capacity after introducing foreign technology and machinery. Afterwards, while absorbing Western technology to continuously expand copper production, related industries such as machinery industry, coal industry, wire manufacturing, forestry, etc. were also developed one after another. Later developed into a modern conglomerate centered around the mining and financial industries.
